A partnership of more than 16 years
The collaboration between Inoferro and Kortels dates back to 2009. Leon Bekkers and Toby Kortland share a history: Leon started as a holiday worker at Inoferro when Toby was still employed there. Later, Toby started his own company, Kortels, specializing in maritime measurement. Since then, the two companies have worked closely together for more than 16 years.
The strengths of Kortels
Kortels carries out 3D measurements on-site at Inoferro’s client locations, often at major yacht builders. They are also responsible for processing and detailing these measurements into usable data. This accurate groundwork enables Inoferro to handle the engineering internally with a solid foundation.
According to Leon, Kortels stands out due to its extensive knowledge of materials, such as stainless steel, glass, and other high-end components used in yacht construction. Additionally, Toby’s background at Inoferro gives him a strong understanding of what is technically and practically feasible in production. This ensures that the collaboration is both efficient and effective.
Communication between the two companies is smooth and direct, which is essential in the fast-paced yacht industry. “We have a close and strong relationship, with short lines of communication,” says Leon.
Flexible planning
One of their most significant joint achievements is the development of high-quality windshields, combining stainless steel and glass at an exceptionally high standard. Only a few companies in the Netherlands are capable of producing this level of craftsmanship.
Kortels plays a crucial role by not only providing technical expertise but also being flexible in planning, which is essential in yacht building, where deadlines are often tight and adjustments need to be made quickly.
Future collaboration
Leon is highly satisfied with the partnership: “We have successfully completed more than 50 projects together without any significant issues.”
